KNPC’s Clean Fuel Project: 100 mm thick pipes provided by Inox Tech
7 December 2016
Clean Fuel Project (CFP) is a plan conceived by Kuwait National Petroleum Company in order to upgrade and develop two of its refineries: Mina Al- Ahmad (MAA) and Mina Abdullah (MAB).
The overall investment for the project is expected to reach almost $16 billion and involves a joint venture of many important companies.
The project officially started in 2014, when contrats were inked, and is likely to be completed in 2018. Thanks to this project, the two important refineries are expected to increase their combined capacitiy from 736000 barrels per day to 800000 barrels per day. In addiction to this, MAA and MAB will be linked to each other to gave birth to an integrated refining complex that will be safer and more reliable as of performance and use of energy.
Moreover, as it is pointed out from the name of the project, the two refineries’ petroleum products will lower their sulphur content to 5%: in this way, low- value fuel oil (containing high Sulphur levels), will be converted to higher- value products: this will bring higher return on investment.
